I remember the first time I ever met him.
Myself and herself were sitting at a table in the Gables and she suddenly goes "jesus Christ, don't look now... but Ian Bailey is sitting at the bar"
I told Val after and he said it to Mick, and he loved it![]()
He was droll out.
I was having a pint in his company a good few years back when a man in his 50s broke into our conversation and said to Mick;
"Pat, isn't it? You're a butcher, aren't you?"
"I am."
"Do you bone and roll turkeys? If I bought a turkey from a farmer would you do it for me?"
"Ah sure we would of course. I'm gone from the old place though. My new shop is inside the Dosco - drop it in and, if I'm not there, say that you were talking to Pat."
"Thanks, Pat"
"Bye now"
"Are you involved in the butchers in the Dosco now?" asked one of the lads at the bar.
Mick took a thoughtful sup of his pint and merely replied;
"No".
