Pubs reopening June 29th

Went for grub in the city last night, dipped into the oval on the way home. Wedged, and every table and chair on Tuckey Street filled too. Had been in the Shelbourne earlier, also quite busy. The city still does a fair trade midweek, as opposed to rural areas, where the midweek trade is non existent. Even the weekend trade is fairly gone.

The fartists in West Cork are happier plucking a banjo in their hovel while they drink limoncello that tastes of arse sweat than going for a beautifully brewed and poured pint from a ruggedly fat, professional barman.

Great pub,
People love to knock the city but it’s hopping this year inspite of bad management and lack of leadership,it’s like it’s re wiring itself and we should be both ashamed and yet wonderous off it all ,
Saying that, to run a business in Ireland today is to be oppressed, there is a long standing contempt for small businesses owners in this country from a nepo ridden civil service that for all intents and purposes is a living throwback to British rule ,(read that twice if you want )
You’d want to be busy 7 nights a week to fund that beast and their pensions and short hours, but the public will naturally focus on the price of a pint and berate accordingly as their own pockets are being rifleled by the eh “system” and the “process “ the latter being code for fecklessness on a biblical scale but at your expense,

Now what time is the pub open I’m gasping

Fancy explaining that in a bit more detail??

Sure ,
For the purposes of this rant I’m excluding nurses and gardai and fire fighters fit they are the victims of internal contempt

So ,that statement will resonate for anyone on here that runs a business ,however for those who don’t it’s about how the civil service view the self employed with suspicion and contempt,it’s assumed you are in breach of something, hiding something ,needing to be policed, monitored and inspected,
Rather than be encouraged, helped and minded if you like ,which is why you pay so many charges and fees.
That’s the outlook,

Then to maintain a historical and current bloated workforce costs are heaped upon costs onto the small business -many which fail yet the inefficiencies and bloat continue ,
The business owner must always balance their books but the civil service does not.

The origins of this lay way before the foundation of the state ,where one took an exam to get into where ever ,the corporation at the time, post office and so on ,
It was a “safe “ job with considerable social status and you began to see the emergence of an us versus them attitude wherby we the great unwashed were looked down upon ,
Dynastic lines within sectors evolved along with an attitude of we know best and a superior attitude became inbuilt in its dna if you like.

There have been attempts at reform going way back for example the reform of cork corporation in the 1920s and the installation of an executive to run the city as by then the same people I’m talking about hat literally gone feral ,
Alas all attempts at reform end with even more bloated management ,this Cannot be denied ,all the while there is more and more expected of small business for little or no return,

This is why. I state it’s a living throwback to British rule ,
Today it still continues but you’ll notice it’s all couched in corporate language now and woe betide if anyone sticks the head above the parapet ,

The good and bad news is that time is running out for this throwback where it will become increasingly difficult if not outright impossible for it to hide the staggering levels of waste with emerging AI tech ,
You’ll observe actually that it is extremely rare to find a report where you’ll find any official exposing the benefits of ai to deliver services to the taxpayer in a more efficient manner for they know
full well the story but have being resisting change for years ,
Now is that not a form of contempt also when your taxes are funding it.

I’ll feck off now, have a good week lads,
