I'd have gone to the Outpost and Viscount in the 90s and 00s and the bars (90% plus men) were busy seven nights a week but not the lounges. You'd bring the girlfriend or the missus in town for a drink. The pub scene in Bishopstown went on the slide about 20 years ago. The Bishopstown Bar went for the transient student market. The Outpost was seeing a dwindling number of old timers prior to March 2020 and the Viscount is long gone.?

Back in the 1980s an 90s the lounges in The Bishoptown Bar, Viscount, Outpost and Wilton used to do a roaring trade. I know because I frequented them often enough.The walk home wasn't that long unless one lived out in Curraheen.
