Pubs reopening June 29th

No mention of movement of a (still alive) body.

Her barrister describes case as 'sad'

Looks like the victim card is to be played.

And by pleading guilty early she may have caught the Gardai on the hop.

I was surprised when I heard that was the only charge. She appears to be getting away lightly.

Horseshit.
It could easily be a commuter town with a railway.

A rail line to Youghal on the already intact line would have seen housing development thrive from Midleton>Mogeely>Killeagh>Youghal.

It was a complete no brainer from a housing and public transport aspect so of course they didn't.

Lord Stackwad is toeing the party line

All along the expanding frequency and double tracked lines for the commuter rail heading east on site have had huge housing/apartment developments and housing either built, on site or planned from Dunkettle to Midleton which means more potential customers for a 25-30 minute trip to the city.

Little Island is also a massive employment hub.

The new station at Dunkettle with park & ride will take a huge number of people from the Glanmire-Balllinglana-Upper Glounthane area as a transport option.

Youghal does not have that big development or population.

Population of Youghal is about only 8.5k and the option of people to work from home now while Midleton and Cobh have roughly double the population and a much more developed tourism product.

Who in their right mind is even going to go to Youghal for their holidays so that market is gone for 50+years now ?

Look at it again in 20 years but right now it is just not currently viable.

Other charges are being dealt at District Court level according to the article.

Maybe there are more serious charges coming later
Unlikely tbh. It would be extremely difficult to charge her with another offence in relation to the death (for example murder) once the state has accepted a plea to dangerous driving causing death.

Or maybe a difference between what actually happened and what the DPP felt they could get a conviction for.
Maybe. If (allegedly) a body was moved from a passenger seat to a driver seat then forensics would be able to prove that fairly easily because of seatbelt injuries (unless the deceased wasn't wearing a seatbelt I suppose).
