The guardian primarily through Seán Ingle have been at the forefront of ensuring the biology which underpins the position that the IOC have taken is reported.

Caster Semenya is a very significant voice on this matter and her opinion is newsworthy. I still have a lot of sympathy for DSD athletes like her. They are being treated the same effectively as Trans Women in sport and I can see how they could feel hard done by.

I also agree with the IOC that the retained male advantage for 46 XY DSD athletes means that fairness and safety warrants their exclusion from Female Sport

fair enough. the point remains if youve trained and competed your whole life only to be bested by those with an unfair advantage you have to ask why are these results allowed stand.

IOC have been very clear this policy is not retroactive.

Not dissimilar to East German records from.the 80s standing for close to 50 years.

The entire podium of the 800m in Rio 2016 was 46 XY DSD.

But those athletes did nothing wrong. Broke no rule. Did not cheat or seek to hide their condition. So it's unfortunate certainly but you can't turn back time

i dont think the comparison with the juicers stands up. everyone knew they were at it but most of them werent caught. theres no ambiguity with these other athletes. if you were a female athlete who missed out on medals because of this you would be rightly furious.

It's remarkable really how little response or debate there has been to these very significant changes in policy. That's because at this point there nearly all.thw questions on male advantage have been answered and those that held it could be dimished or negated have been proved wrong

It's not a comparison with juicers it's the well established precedent that without a clear direct breach of rules you can't do anything even if you "know" something.

She broke no rules and never got a WR becuase the 800m WR is set by Czechoslovakian Jarmila Kratochvílová during a period of.rampant systematic doping.

Not even a person with Male phenotype could break it 35 odd years later.
