Speaking of simple traditional values, DeSantis just lost a Federal Court case striking down a law he signed that declared that Florida college professors were essentially state employees and that therefore the state (in the form of a committee of wingnuts chosen by him) had the right to determine what they were allowed to say. If they violated the censorship committee rules, they could be fired. DeSantis promoted this law because he claims (like so many other claims about imaginary villains like CRT, "wokeness", references to gays being "grooming", references to racism being "racism" etc) that colleges are hotbeds of "socialism", whatever that's supposed to mean. The judge that kicked him in the pills pointed out that this was a actual violation of the First Amendment, which is specifically about the government censoring free speech. The judge even quoted 1984 in his response.
