Popular holiday destinations you think are shit

I’m in Lanzarote at the moment, first time here and it’s fine, not amazing but if you just want a few days of sun, a few beers and some nice food it’s a perfect handy get away from Cork when the weather is shit.

I wouldn’t dream of coming here in high season though.

Enjoy - hope you found a nice spot with cold beers to watch the Man U game last pm!!!

:lol!:

I have tried to line up Sri Lanka a few times but haven't managed it yet - it looks amazing. My sister used go there reasonably regularly because she was living in the middle east, and father in law has gone twice recently and came back raving about it. Philippines is next on my hit list
Philippines is absolutely amazing, probably the best place I’ve ever been.

Palawan is paradise, nicest people I’ve ever came across, my only flaw would be the food is pretty terrible

Sri Lanka is a bucketlist one for me. Had planned to go when living out yonder but things conspired against us and we had to come back to Ireland instead. Still on the agenda, Jaffna looks unreal.

Knew this girl back in the day, absolute full of shit faux crusty - bad dreads and elephant print pants type. She was talking about her life changing experiences in Sri Lanka, and generally boring everyone to tears. Jokingly asked her if she saw any Tamil Tigers to which she responded that on a jungle trek she came across a family of them at a watering hole. Full of shit gowl.
Lion beer is top notch too.

The day after I went there, was the day, the MH370 went missing. The daughter met her first boyfriend there too, a Swedish man, both aged 2, oh dear.

Mountains:
Nuwara Eliya
Ella

Beach:

Galle
Unawatuna

A day or 2 max in Columbo.

The Tsunami of 2004 hit it hard but they bounced back.

Ive tried to line it up a few times but the travel time took too much out of the holiday, I'll manage it though.. I had been looking at Malapascua and a few other spots. The diving there is top notch and really cheap which helps when theres 4 of you!

Maybe next big trip but thats a while off

Been to the Philippines, my thoughts are, the nicest people you’ll ever meet, the worst food in Asia but Thailand blows it out of the water for beaches and interesting/historical places to visit.

Food is cat, I’d much rather the beaches in Philippines over Thailand though.

You’re right on the ancient temples etc definitely better in Thailand.

It’s been a good few years since I’ve been to either but I’d wager the Philippines is still a fraction of the cost of Thailand

Haven't been there in 30+ years and resorts are by all accounts way more developed now but still remember the beaches there! Unbelievable.
