Places that won't reopen

If I could bring back one Cork business it'd be Captain Americas. That was our go to for everything from birthdays to casual Monday night rules. Nothing special but it was perfectly priced and nice and casual.

I'd say the one in Dublin doesn't have much gas left in the tank, I must get in there again sometime soon
Very good point MoE.
Many of the places we frequented over the decades for special family occasions have closed. You imagine that you’ll be doing this for decades never thinking that most of these places are trading on quick sand

There can't be many old independent Cork restaurants left. Tung Sing was a big loss and that's still sitting empty a few years later.

Scoozi, Cafe Mexicana, Kelly's Kitchen are just a few of the remaining family restaurants in town.

the inn down glounthane direction on the old cork-midleton road was our family go-to for communions/confirmations/etc in the 70s/80s, dunno why, it just was, the folks must have loved it i guess, the grub was always good

years later we used print stuff for them and i took a lady friend there for her birthday... the manager gave us 2-3 bottles of free wine.... we were absolutely plastered by the time we got back to the city and into henrys, rest of the night is a complete blur tbh

anyone know is it still going?
