It’s 7 o’ Clock, I’m Barry O’ Mahony.
Today marks the end of an era as Barry O'Mahony signs off for the final time after an incredible 35 years with Cork's 96FM and C103.
As Head of News and one of Cork's most familiar voices, Barry has delivered the stories that shaped our city and county to generations of Corkonians.
Reliable, relatable and trustworthy, he has been a constant presence in homes, cars and workplaces across Cork for almost four decades.
A proud Cork man and passionate supporter of Cork GAA and all things Cork, Barry's love for his city and county has always shone through in everything he has done.
His calm, reassuring voice has guided us through moments of celebration, heartbreak and everything in between.
While he may be signing off from the newsroom, his contribution to broadcasting and to Cork itself will never be forgotten.
Thank you, Barry, for 35 years of dedication, professionalism and friendship.
You will be greatly missed by your colleagues and by the people of Cork.
Wishing you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.
And that’s the news for now
