pj coogan show

Peej pulled rank on Byrnsie this am, putting down a marker on who is top dog.
PB said they were going straight to his piece from Kinsale on the Trump tariffs but Peej interjected saying "that'll be in a few minutes" before going to ad break and then introducing the item himself.

Speaking of the tariffs, PB tried to frame it in such a manner that it was the government's fault that they hadn't done more but people he interviewed knocked him back, making the valid point that this government or any government worldwide can do very little if Trump decides to run with an idea, no matter how looney, especially when nothing has been announced yet!!

Heard PB asking People if they trusted the govt to steer us through whatever may be coming? They all said yes,

MM is very good at the reactive stuff (eg covid, Trump etc) as he is very calm. He however is not so good with the proactive stuff (eg Housing crisis) as he doesn't have bundles of energy and isn't a great motivator.
I reckon if you asked the same people if they felt the government were going to solve the Housing crisis they would all say No.

Agreed, sadly housing seems to be a lost cause, Current and previous governments were asleep on this,

Spot on - there seemed to be a feeling after the bust that we had plenty of housing but basic review of population growth would have pointed out that there was a continuing need to build and the government should have pushed on with their own schemes when it was cheap to do so and there was plenty of labour to do so. They didn't and lot of experienced tradespeople went abroad or in case of Eastern Europeans, back to their own country or elsewhere.
Now, they're building as many as the can but are caught by capacity issues as only a fraction of those that left have returned.

It is ironic that post bust RTE were doing programmes on the amount of ghost estates we had and people demanding they
should be demolished,

Exactly, I can imagine when the country was burst unfinished housing estates all over the country how people would have reacted if the now broke government stated they wanted to spend money that they didn't have on more houses ..Easy to be wise 10 yrs later ..

We're caught now as the housing issue is not confined to here. Germany experiencing similar crisis, needing to build 340k units each year but only managed 210k last year and this year not expected to be much better.
Polish lads that flocked here 20 years ago now just need to cross the border or rather the next generation of Polish lads!!

Similar situation in Holland, France etc.

I think some blame does have to go on the government with the tariffs.

Obviously nobody can control what Trump does, but even before he came along our economy was far too reliant on the US. We were caught with our pants down in the White House on Paddys Day. Trump is supporting Russia and Israel, he's about to try and wreck our economy, but MM had to go there and laugh at his jokes. The yanks are the dominatrix and Ireland are the little fella on a leash with a little lock on his balls (I have that video).

The thing now is that we're in absolutely ZERO position to be turning down trade with any country, whether it be Russia, Israel, or China. If anything we're going to have to try and cosy up to China more to try and replace some of the business lost with the US.

Ultimately though I don't think the tariffs will last long. It's absolute economic suicide for the US and the pain will become very obvious, very quickly.

Stagflation is the name of the game and its coming to a town near you soon (if you're unfortunate enough to live in the US).

Posting this here because obviously nobody listens to Red FM and the PJ thread is the go to thread when discussing local radio (because PJ is the GOAT).

A thing popped up there about a man who is ill in hospital being visited by Roy Keane. Beautiful story, and another example of Keano being an all round good guy.

But what struck me was that the two presenters on this Red FM show were that Mayo turncoat KC, and some English wan.

Like is there something wrong with Cork people? Is there a reason Red FM need to go to Mayo and England for presenters?

96FM has Lissarda Lorraine, Poo-cleaning Ross, Wayne in the Plane, and PJ Coogan (granted, his Mayo and Kilkenny links cast a shadow over his Corkness).

But yeah, fuck Red FM
