Like what do people actually expect to achieve with a cost of living protest?
Do they think the government are happy with spiralling costs putting families and businesses at risk? Are they happy that as consumer spending plummits we're more than likely going to end up in a recession during which these same people will then expect the government to support them?
If people are concerned about their budgets then start readjusting them and doing what you can. Turn off lights when you're not using them, have shorter showers, dry your clothes on a clothes horse instead of a dryer.
As it happens apparently dryers are one of the biggest offenders for eating up electricity. Worse than washing machines.
Absolutely none of this is the government's fault and people need to start acting like adults instead of playing the blame game constantly.
