The padel approach on that seems better, where I'm guessing the average length of a point is lower.

It feels like a best of 5 sets "real tennis" game could go on for 4 or maybe 5hrs if the players were fairly evenly matched

I'm hoping to try out the padel courts here at some point. Playing singles tennis into your 40s with a poor level of fitness might not be the best thing in the world for me.

I have played pickleball in the States a few times, it's good craic and more accessible to the beginner than tennis is. Things like knowledge of racquet/paddle grip, spin and court positioning from a tennis perspective are what will separate the class in players.
