Pickleball, it means more !

any of ye into the padel scene, m8s? i was playing a bit before i destroyed my hamstring playing soccer. it was actually fairly enjoyable. the lads i played with weren’t exactly hardcore which usually helps when everyone is trying out these niche/hipster sports.
Played it a few times down in Carrigtwohill but a few times after I went to book there was no times available that suited so I kinda lost interest. Enjoyed it though

I thought that was just a Loft thing…….Jimmy???

Am kind of late to this scene. Are padel and pickleball the same thing?
No they gave both kind of evolved from the fact that unless you start when you're 4 are uber wealthy Tennis has become unattainable

I've never played either but my understanding is as follows

Pickleball is played with a wooden racket and a hollow ball on a tennis court in the service boxes only (no base line) so it's good for static older players to give it a lash. Apparently the noise of bat on ball is wojious and causes major issues as well as it eats up Tennis clubs because they use the same courts

Padel is like "original tennis" or whatever the fuck it's called. Where you play on a custom build court smaller than a tennis court AFAIK but the walls are in play so you can flake it off a back or side wall and as long as it doesn't hit the net or bank up high you're good so it's not a massive power game like tennis has become

Yep, also known as "real" or "royal" tennis.

There are only about 50 courts worldwide.
