Phoenix Magazine goes bang

Used get Total Film every month. Kind of lost interest around the time DVDs died out. Half the decent reviews were what was coming to home release or what you'd head to Xtra Vision for that weekend.

Streaming is grand but somethings definitely been lost. Getting Directors cuts etc is a right pain in the hole now. Lot to be said for a physical copy of a film.
I had a sub to Empire for years, even had it sent out to me in Korea, which was a first for them, but it kept me sane. I had them for various other magazines over the years as well, but all of this was before smart phones, which are a fecking curse.

Exactly the same for me. I'd read the Sunday Papers from cover to cover. The ould pair used to get the Sunday Trib and the Sunday Times, and the lot of us would spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon passing the various sections around when we were finished with them. I couldn't read an entire front page at this stage, I'd say.

Yeah used get the Tribune and the Times on a Sunday. Still get the Times but the sports and the culture magazine are about as far as I ever get

Used get Q magazine sporadically back in the early 90s. There was some other magazine around the same period that gave a CD of a mix of that months releases. Cant for the life of me remember the name.

Viz annuals were another staple. Must have had hundreds of copies of Eagle, 2000ad and Judge Dredd megazine in bin bags. Probably be worth a few quid if they hadnt disappeared whenever during various moves.

Spotify and the various TV Apps are getting so expensive that people might migrate to the old hard copy. Hipsters buying vinyl can fuck off into the sea.
Select.

Definitely , used to read a paper daily and all the Sundays plus books. Now it's just head in the phone. Still reading loads of news though and quickest to get any source you want so wonder if there is a trade off in knowledge. Maybe more factual info over creative sources that get the brain working in books.
