Petrol/Diesel prices

The old trick, Put prices up sky high, Then after lots of anger and protests drop it down but to a level still
well above what it had been, The people will be grateful
Why is the price of the supply coming from Whitegate gone through the roof?

Whitegate is no longer stare owned. It is now an Irving Oil facility.

When it was sold in the early 2000s the argument against the sale was that it was a critical piece of national infrastructure and without a state controlled refinery the island would be vulnerable to market prices for oil.

I know it's not state owned but logistically I can't see a reason for the wholesale price from Whitegate to go through the roof.....unless....

Now I'm not a petrochemist either tbf, but it seems hard to make a case for a sudden price rise for this supply.
