Paul Scholes

He’s a better player than all of them bar Keane.

As for charisma, this isn’t the X factor m8, it’s football.

Ah come on, he was no where near Eric and Giggs and Becks were far more dynamic players. They made things happen. Ferguson did not even trust Paul for years. He is the ginger Michael Carrick, which is no shame. I enjoyed watching Carrick play.

I never claimed he was the ultimate athlete.

He was a better player than all of them though. Ever hear the saying about the first couple of yards being in your head?

Frankly, putting becks above him (whatever about Eric and giggs), is ridiculous.

United fans dismiss Becks because he was a bit of a langer and Ferrgy threw a shoe at him but he was a brilliant player for United and England. He could carry a team unlike Scholes who just kept things ticking along.

I used to have no time for Beckham. I'd wager the more rational, stats based me of today would see him differently.

Yeah, he was a very good player, no doubt.

But if you want to talk about overrated, try this for size.

The Saturday after he scored that free kick against Greece, Jeff Sterling asked his panel what he needed to do to reach the level of Diego, Cruyff et al.

He also earned wages in football, that were in no way comparable with his football ability.

Beckham was deadly from set pieces and was the best crosser of a ball in the world.

He never bossed a midfield like Scholes. Fanciful nonsense to suggest otherwise.

Yeah, not sure about Beckham carrying a team. My recollection is that he used to break things before trying (and often succeeding) to fix them.

2006 to 2007, was the year Ronnie really stepped up for United and gave us of a glimpse of what was to come.

But Scholes was also magnificent that year, probably his best in a united shirt. Ronnie got all the plaudits, and he deserved them.

But no scholes that year, no title. I doubt Ronnie (that year, not in his career), would have done as well either without Scholes running the midfield.
