Pat Finucane

I’m sure there was a comment here that Benn would be a good Secretary of State for NI, yet twice in a week he has fucked them over.
Finucane family are Sinn Fein to the core.
Browne family are not.Perhaps that helped them.
Kathleen o Hagan,7 months pregnant when murdered in Tyrone was murdered by uvf.Mr and Mrs Fox murdered by same gang.No public inquiry either. Why not.?

Most likely a joint operation by the state and loyalists. How have you come to that conclusion.
If Geraldine has some evidence can she give it to us.
She uses to be up and down to Bertie Aherns office in the past. We never got to know what was said. All hush hush.
Let us know what is the evidence. Prosecutions cannot go on the bases of I think that that fellow murdered him or I heard from someone who heard from someone that that that man was murdered by that fellow.
Harris and Higgins and of course MLMD are out of the traps on this one . MM will probably join the courts today.

The big winners to day are Phoenix Law or Kevin Winters Law or Madden and Finnuciane law.

David Cameron acknowledged there was state collusion in 2012, when he was PM

https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/prime-minister-david-cameron-statement-on-patrick-finucane--2

"Both Lord Stevens and Judge Cory made it clear that there was State collusion in the murder.

This itself was a shocking conclusion and I apologised to the family on behalf of the British government when I met them last year.

But despite these reports, some twenty-three years after the murder - there has still only been limited information in the public domain.

The whole country and beyond is entitled to know the extent and nature of the collusion - and of the failure of the State."

Isn't one of the sons a Shinner MP or something?
Yes co owner of a law firm that had dealings with Daniel Kinihan you won't hear SF say much about that. I've no doubt Pat's killing involved collision I just hope the inquiry will have the teeth to find the truth and not have doors shut on it like previous inquiries with redacted files etc. The documentary on Seán Brown springs to mind.

Michael Martin was on with Matt Cooper yesterday, He welcomed the news of the inquiry but said so many other
families out there need answers as well,
In South Africa they had a truth and reconciliation tribunal, and I think the participants said it helped heal the hurt (IIRC. Not well versed in it by any means)

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for NI.

It was suggested at the time of the GFA.

The TRC in South Africa meant victims families got information relating to their deaths in return for the perpetrators not getting prosecuted if they gave the information.

I watched a documentary on this years ago and read a few books about it. In one case it meant a great deal to the family of a US aid worker to be given details relating to her death/ final hours . I think her father was allowed to testify/address the commission with a sort of victim impact statement following testimony from the guys that had abducted and later murdered her. The guy came across like Gordon Wilson and payed a glowing tribute to his daughter.
