Passport service

I'm in my second one and find it fierce handy, and I've never once had a problem with it.

Weird. It's handy in size for sure but I am not exaggerating when I say that I was held up at every point in my trip last week becasue of it.

Weird quirk here, you scan the back of the passport card not the front in the e gates. You would think it's the front because of using normal passport but it isn't.

That's odd. I never thought of trying that.

The eGates in Valencia also have a card-sized slot which does nothing.

What's that about ?
🤔
Some years ago, around 2007, they did away with EU residents cards due to a huge admin backlog caused by South American residents here. The govt said that we can use our id from our own countries. As Ireland doesn't have one, the passport card is very handy to carry around with you on a daily basis. You are obliged to show some form of id here if asked by the police or if you need to deal with public offices or banks.
I always carry my full passport when travelling to avoid possible hassle from ignorant airport staff.

Thanks, I hadn't heard about that.
