You'd prefer the ladies beach volleyball so ?

There are a vast array of sports in the Olympics that I would ''prefer" , many of them new to me .

The cross canoe ( I think that's what it's called ) is really entertaining. The golf at the weekend was great . Basketball is phenomenally entertaining ( thanks to Timmy McCarthy in great measures ) . The performances across all the athletics events is jaw dropping . I can't speak for you , but I have not seen any beach volleyball , but I would venture that it is preferable to watching women fighting . If I saw it outside Lennoxs I'd walk the other way

The skill and fitness it takes is phenomenal. It's nothing like a scrap outside a chipper in fairness!

I was watching the beach volleyball earlier and make no apology for it. Great sport. Watched a sensational indoor volleyball match the other day between Poland and Slovenia as well. We used to play loads of volleyball in school, brilliant help with football.

There was a good piece in the examiner at the weekend about talent identification and scouting for athletes that could be well suited to non traditional sports. One of our female cyclists got picked up that way. With our army of GAA players, I'd guarantee you we'd have two top Olympic sides in handball within 4 years if we scouted around now for them.

Horse racing more than pays its way here, but dog racing is dead and funding should be cut,

Why is it receiving 100 million a year then.

No Idea why. It's always a fundamental sport of the Olympics especially staying at amateur level and then used as the stepping stone to a great professional career. It's been plagued by bribery lately though even this year has had question mark's.

Only for CIA/FBI intervention Daniel kinahan would be a world class boxing promoter by now.
