Old Cork Photos

That bus was soon transferred up to Dublin and it was in a sorry state when it got there, that route destination blind would barely move on it.

Those Leyland engined buses were built by CIE in Inchicore works and were introduced into the fleet in 1968.

They were later replaced by Vanhool / Mc Ardle ones which were introduced in 1978.

I thought a lot of you would have recognised the pub in the background, Cissie Youngs.
Yes you are on the ball, it is Bandon Road and it was indeed operating the number 10 which originated back then at Roger Casement Park and went down to Skehard Road.
🤔
The no.10 used to go from RC Park as far as Ballintemple when I frequented Flower Lodge.

And coming from Magazine Road as the bus has Tivoli on front... would that have been the no 11 rather than no 5 ?

It was one of my biggest shocks leaving Cork.

In other cities, the destination on the front of the bus matched the palce the bus was going.
In Cork, the destination on the front of the bus was whatever the last person to change the destination label had left it as.
