GAA square ball rules for all set pieces???

I know it's been mentioned here before but can anyone think of negative unintended consequences?

Possibly too much of a swing back towards favouring keepers??

Possibly.

But it might also force teams to be a bit more imaginative than simply crowding the keeper. Something has to be done about it anyway.

The only reason I and a good few others watched that game yesterday was because of the high stakes involved. If that match had been played on the first of February my dog would have got a long walk.

It's absolute muck, and more and more teams are just going to copy it if it's allowed to continue. I'm really praying to Superman that PSG win the CL.

Yes, good shout, but there would be immediate pressure on the receiver, unless the defending team is asleep.

Id have been a big supporter of var when it was introduced but it just doesnt work. huge game changing events are still being called wrong on a regular basis so you have to ask yourself whats the point in keeping it. just go back to regular individual reffing errors instead of three lads in a prefab getting it wrong.

I don't doubt that VAR is giving us, on an aggregate basis, more accurate decisions.

But in my view the price of the actual process isn't worth it in terms of the impact on the game from a fan/viewer perspective.

In hindsight it was on a hiding to nothing from the outset. Everyone's tolerance for VAR errors (or even an incorrect perception of a VAR error) is exceptionally low.

Everyone forgetting the piss taking with the diving before VAR.

VAR had to be bought in cos the refs couldn't keep up with the modern game.
