Official NFL Thread 2021/2022

Rams v packers: You can take the man out of Detroit but you can't take Detroit out of the man.

Browns v Ravens: If they had just sat Mayfield early on in the season and let him get healthy they would probably lead the division and be challenging for the #1 seed. Instead they now have a wasted a stellar defensive performance because of a bum offence.

Patriots v Titans: The lack of Henry is hurting them, Pats building a new contender.

Jets v Texans: Jets really played alot of Jets Football but managed to overcome it and win

Dolphins v Panthers: The Camback didn't last too long...

Bucs v Colts: Bucs could be righting the ship now, Colts look good enough to take the division if the titans can't sort themselves out.

Good call on Stafford. It would be kind of funny if after all their aggressive moves, the Rams flopped in the post-season.

Interesting to see what kind of contract offer, if any, Cleveland extend to Mayfield. He's not worth what Baker will ask for, but the Browns don't have much of a choice, othe than to go down the rookie route, and next year's draft class for QBs isn't great.

The Panthers have really fucked up their QB situation. They'd have been better off sticking with Bridgewater. They could panic and over-pay for Watson next year.

Seahawks keep losing. Jets own their first round pick, which is now #4 :)

I'd bet Baker will get a contract. He probably shouldn't but definitely meets the threshold as a starter. He's just streaky

Youre right about Panthers. Hard to see where they go outside of a mediocre Trade for the likes of Jimmy G. Likely Matt Ruhle will be out the door between so so coaching and the allegations earlier in the year

What allegation was that? I think he'll be given another year to make the play-offs at Carolina, but he might be tempted to take on a college job like Oklahoma. His preachy ra-ra coaching style is probably more suited to college than the pro game.

Baker is good enough to keep around, the issue is the money and years. 20 or 25 for 3 years wouldn't be a bad contract but I could see him expecting 35 or over and he definitely isn't that, but then starting qbs are overpaid and that raises the price for Baker too.

On Rhule, can't see anything recent to do with him? He seems a decent enough coach but they have no continuity at qb for the last few years and that's a death knell for any team. Cam got injured and then moved on, Allen and Bridgewater both came and went and now Cam is back but for how long?

I think he was tied up in the Washington /John Gruden thing although may be making a langer of myself here. I know the raiders owner is pushing for publication of whatever report was written because the raiders are the only team to have had any fallout

Ruhle probably has some brownie points after clearing house at Baker

Mac Jones 2/3, 19 yards and the Pats win. Fewest pass attempts in franchise history.

Bills knew the Pats would run on every play and they still couldn't stop them. They couldn't run the ball much either. Like, you would think playing in Buffalo you would build a team that can play in gale-force winds but apparently not.

Sad about John Madden, watched a good few clips of him in full flight and he was the master back in the day. The NYT obit is a lovely summation of his life and career.

Playoff picture starting to take shape. Chiefs and Packers looking good to secure top seeds in either conference. Some good matchups in prospect, Covid permitting.

Titans, Bills, Bengals, Colts, Pats, and probably Dolphins in the AFC wildcard
Cowboys, Rams, Bucs, Cardinals, 49ers, and quite probably the Eagles in the NFC wildcard

But Covid is sweeping through most buildings, and it could be a lottery in the playoffs. Should be interesting viewing nevertheless.
