Official NFL Thread 2021/2022

Tim Tebow is back in the league, nine years later, he signs a one-year deal with Jacksonville. Still unclear what position he is going to play, but probably as a tight end.

The Jaguars, or Urban Meyer and his collection of old-school coaches at least, are going to do their level best to ruin Trevor Lawrence. I didn't like their draft much either, outside of taking Lawrence at 1.

They are old-school, which is part of their charm. The fan ownership and all that. But part of that old-school is a conservative way of doing things. Not been aggressive in free agency, sticking rigidly to draft boards and so on.

People will say Rodgers is throwing his toys out of the pram because GB drafted his long-term replacement, and compare it to Brady keeping his head down when the Pats drafted Garoppollo. There is some merit in that. But New England were able to compensate through Belichick/Brady's combined genius and still win Superbowls when their drafts weren't great.

It goes abit beyond drafting Jordan Love, they've had a run of issues like this to the point of almost wanting to piss him off. They traded up to draft Love and in the last 10 years he's the only 1st round they've spent on offense.
Trading away receivers Rodgers wants them to keep.
Firing the QB coach Rodgers wanted
Keeping Mccarthy far longer than they should have and then not bothering to consult Rodgers on what they should be looking for in an offensive coach.

Rodgers can be tetchy and frequently seemed like he could be tough to get along with but the Packers seemed to choose options specifically to make it clear they don't care about his opinion. Its a bad trait for any boss to have.

That trade up for Love took the biscuit alright. And they then took another non-pass catching running back in the second round, when they already had Aaron Jones. Their 'ok, not great' drafts are catching up with them, and Rodgers probably sees his window closing to win another ring.

Hard to know who'd win a stand-off between Rodgers and a GM, who has been with the team since 1998.

If he does go, I'd say it's almost certainly Denver, who have a loaded roster but are missing a QB. It was telling they didn't take a QB when they were picking at 9 in the draft.

Denver is the consensus pick,Elway trying to pull in another top qb but I think the Raiders could be a dark horse for it too, they seemed to be looking for ways to move on from Carr since Gruden returned and Carr would be a good asset forthe Packers to keep or flip

I was never a believer in him but he deserved the chance after Denver to prove himself and he never got it. This sort of transition would have been interesting 10 years ago, playing a role like Hill does for the saints but being out so long its hard to see it working. Hes been tried out a few times by other teams and if there was something there he would have been kept on.

Fair play to him for trying and best of luck.

Its is also a decent flash move for Jacksonville, he will be a big draw for them in Florida combined with Meyer, they haven't been doing too well in terms of fan interest

Rodgers rewoking a deal to stay on in Green Bay, at least for one more year.

His existing 3-year deal will become 2 and if Rodgers wants to leave at the end of next season, a trade will be facilitated.

Now if only they had gone all in on supporting him, instead of drafting all those corners and back up QBs/RBs, we could call this the 'Last Dance' or something.

Hard to see them getting a better chance than what they just had, the bucs haven't had any major turnover for the off-season and the Packers haven't done anything to noticeably improve. Maybe LaFleur has figured out how to coach games

Opening day loss for the Jets, but Wilson looked good. He was getting killed by a feeble offensive line but made some great throws, and a couple of tds in the second half.

Wilson's development is all that matters this year. Today was a decent start.
