Lads, bring yer autograph books with you on your spins, Sammy B has moved to the People's Republic! He'll be training away like a dog for another bit and he says he gets his best legs back in Ireland. Your best bet is to wait at the top of a good windy hill and see if you can slipstream him. Would actually love to follow one of the sprinters down a proper descent to see how long I'd last before shitting a brick.

Once you start getting the sensation that the front wheel is lifting slightly off the road you start shitting it!

I got a bad fright last summer with a full on speed wobble coming down the Conor Pass at Dingle doing about 80kph. I was sure I was absolutely done for but somehow made it through it, most frightening thing Ive had on a bike by a long shot, and that includes coming off my cross X bike on downhill sections numerous times

Not sure I’d be up for pushing it any harder than that though since 😬

I'd a similar thing coming down from Sally Gap a few years ago. I was terrified to sit up because I knew it would start lifting, but I also didn't watch to touch the brakes. My garmin clocked it at 86km and I'm never doing that again.

I think that's you that Pidcock passes at 0:59 Jeepers?

I'm the lad who is still 5km back up at the top of the hill.

Nice. Don't think it's me though, he looks like he knows what he's doing, albeit not as good as Pidcock.

I think the coverage is missing a trick by not having a moto camera on the grupetto, given the sprinters are deranged and have actual bike skills. Apparently Hushovd was a sight to behold when descending, would love to have seen that, although I'd be pretty sure Pidcock's bike handling would be up there with the best.

Big win for Lara Gillespie yesterday, where she destroyed the breakaway in the sprint. It's a hilly race, so dealing with that and having a great sprint at the end is just lovely

Paul Seixas looked fierce strong and scored a very good 2nd in Strade Bianche at the weekend - his form has continued from 2025. He's only 19 and looked like a lad who could do damage this season. Enfin, a French Maillot Jaune contender in the coming years?

Meanwhile, the bauld Jonas has finally realised that staying wrapped in cotton wool right up to July ain't gonna win him any more TdFs. He's showing much earlier this season - already racing Paris-Nice and plans to do Volta a Catalunya and the Giro before the tour. He's working under a new trainer and that might be a good move for him too.

Also, not a word of the mrs in the attached article - not in any pic either - no harm for a lad looking to focus
