Always thought Roche was excellent on commentary for the tour, back in the 90s. With all his financial problems, I wonder has he considered getting back into the media side of things?

To be honest, I always thought he was really full of himself. Not that you want that fake humble crap, but the contrast between himself and Kelly was stark in that regard. He doesn't strike me as someone who would believe that he wasn't great at business. I hope he gets back on his feet again and that he's learned a few lessons.

I always got the impression he wasn't the smartest, and that he thought he was. I remember a good interview with an English journalist..... When Roche was asked about life after cycling he said he'd like to be an Ambassador for Ireland, but if I recall correctly, he actually meant full-time diplomat not just 'a cycling ambassador'. In the same interview the journo said something about "a road to Damascus moment" for you...... Roche didn't get the reference. Anyway, hope he finds his feet eventually.
