By reading the statement there's a cryptic clue:
'"It’s not a play thing or PlayStation. To the future!"
That to me suggests higher powers tried to get involved. Highest finish in 18 years so the power went to their head(s). Manager didn't like or want. Neither backed down then.
Again this is completely my own guess and opinion based on the statement, there could be a different reason but a very strange statement from a professional manager.

Didn't Dundalk have wealthy owners a few years ago or am I mistaken Bwana?
Sad to see a club who won promotion on merit being denied by business issues. It was sadly similar for Cork City some years ago.
