Oasis Confirmed For Slane 2009

Liam N86 - never whinged about how many people were there n dat d place was packed - have been to bigger gig/festivals dat were infintiely better organised.by the time my friends were on d trek up to d venue at 5pm - they'd taken down d barriers etc coz there were too many people & just letting everyone thru coz they cudnt handle d crowd.no tikts or even BAGS were being checked at dis stage.

just to make myself more clear, i wasnt replyin to or qouting u in particular... der wer people on this thread givin out about d crowd and d general concensus of there comments was that it was too packed to have a good time.... i was just stating my own personal opinion of the day as a whole and i wasnt refering to u!

Slane is an amazing place to see a gig. The lineup is very important, but the whole Slane experience is important too and it's definitely a special place.

Ticket prices are been debated a lot lately and with good reason. Most of the Slane gigs I have been at, have had 5 or 6 half decent acts, which is good value, when you compare paying the same price to see just 1 headline act + support act at some of the other venues.

I agree the lineup has been somewhat up and down, but I have great memories of the 6 gigs I have been too. It's a similar thing with Glastonbury and the other big ones - it's more than just the acts who play there, it's the whole thing.

I had tickets for Kasabian in the Marquee( Who luckly cancled), which were around 40E, now that was for one band and a support act. say i had of wanted to see the Prodigy as well that was at least another 40E. So i got to see both of these and Oasis for no extra cost in a bigger enviroment.

Watching live music in this country is expensive, but is deffo more ecnomical to watch them in a festival / full Day Concert.

Quite simply - not true. Oxegen has come on leaps & bounds in terms of organisation. No waiting around getting drinks, & the bus services in and out along with the park & ride facilities are run very well.

I`ve heard of people waiting over an hour to get drinks in Slane. Thats bad organisation, nothing else. You can say what you like about big crowds, they are still there to be catered for and it obviously wasnt done. First Electric Picnic was a disaster that way but they got their act together from then on.

Have to agree, oxegen last year was run almost perfectly, it improves every year.

At least Mountcharles has come out and apologised now.

wow, i stand corrected!! ok ur correct sayin that large crowds shud be catered for... d last time i went to oxegen was two years ago when muse played.. we wer in the campsite when d famous rioting incident began and tents wer bein burned for no apparent reason. whether people wer in those tents or not was irrelevant... dat year, quite simply was full of nackers and dat was my last experience of Oxegen.. it jus seemed dat security couldnt handle d trouble makers!! delighted to hear de got der act togethter last year

The Oasis one is correct, The Prodigy probably is too but i know that the Kasabian one is not, i could have sworn shoot the runner was second, cutt off was much earlier, fire was later on in the set and so was vlad the impaler... ive searched everywhere for glasvegas too but wasnt listed... anyone have dem handy??

just reading the setlist reminds me of how fucking collosal it was. best time ive seen them live. My Big Mouth, Roll With It and Half The World Away were hihghlights. Prodigy had everyone on the hill going nuts. didnt care about the walk once i had got on the bus, complained my hole off while i was walking though.

Hardly go to slane for any other band, depends i spose.

i wouldnt say its an amazing place to see a gig tbh have been to other places that are a lot better.

most of the acts who play slane are not really good this years line up proves that i cant remember when a decent band played there last. probably neil young in 93 at least in the 80s the boss the stones and bowie played.
