Auld Nige has been conspicuously quiet recently.

While the £5m from the crypto lad and the money from the money launderer are pretty bad, there's a strong argument that the donation from the money launderer's mum directly to Reform is the worst of the whole lot for actual ramifications.

The story is that Fiona Cottrell gave two donations of £250,000 to Reform UK in May 2024, just before the election. She's the mother of George Cottrell, who got convicted of money laundering in the US, lives in Montenegro and is very much a lackey of Farage. He wrote a book "how to launder money".

Thing is, from reports, the Cottrells are old aristocracy, they're posh, but not well off. There's serious doubts that she had half a million quid to throw at Reform.

George does those, but he wasn't a UK resident at the time. It's illegal for parties to accept payment from non UK residents, and money laundering regulations kick in for payments above £250k...

There could be serious legal implications as the National Crime Agency are investigating...

"Financial industry sources told the Guardian that Fiona received one deposit of $1.4m and two tranches of more than $300,000 each – money she attributed to having come from her son, George, when bankers asked about the deposits.

On each occasion, the Guardian understands transfers were made 24-72 hours before Fiona made a donation either directly to Reform, or via Britain Means Business, a fundraising vehicle for the political party.

Fiona was one of the most important donors to the party in 2024, making secret as well as public donations. She gave two lots of £250,000 in May 2024, which were disclosed transparently to the Electoral Commission. It can be revealed that these donations were preceded by transfers of $318,878 and $328,815 from her son.

As first revealed by the Guardian, she also gave more than £1m to Britain Means Business, a company controlled by the party’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, in June 2024. That cash transfer was not declared officially at the time, and was routed via the bank account of Oneify, an Australian money exchange service. Half that sum was transferred directly to the party days later by Tice, with no declaration that it originated from Fiona Cottrell."



Potential criminal charges for Tice.

To be clear:
"His lawyers have said he is a permissible donor, despite living abroad, but have not explained how he meets the criteria or when he first met them. "

Maybe he's a permissable donor, despite not living in the UK, if so, why the obfuscation?
And if he does live in the UK, HMRC might be wanting to have a word with Posh George.


Does the money even come from him, is it possible it could be from the US, China or Russia?

Think its also reasonable for the police to expand their investigation to all of Reform's crypto donations, after all, it's a good way of hiding who originally paid the donation...
