You mean the (consequence free) vote for FF in the locals.
Some "protest vote" that was.

That, plus the surge in support for Sinn Fein and the left in general plus the Independents, and the anti water protests, they must have scared the bejesus out of Enda, we seemed to be turning radical, yet here we are about to return the same government t in some shape of form without even batting an eyelid! What the f,,, happened?

For the zillionth time people vote for governments in generals and if no-one will go in with SF and FF won't go in with FG then what's left? FG Labour.

I wish TWAA but TINA.

You have to go back to the early 80s for a sitting govt that won a bye-election.
This govt. won 3 out of 6.

A week is a long time in politics but I'm starting to think that the 'anger' has been getting disproportionate airtime.

Let's say Fine Gael and Labour fall well short of a majority, and can't muster enough independents or smaller parties to get over the line, what happens then?

An election. Another one that is.
I'm open to correction but I believe that its unprecedented in the history of the state. Maybe its overdue.

If it happens it will be just short. Indies will help.

If that can't happen it means another election.

Won't happen though

Looking at current odds, they'll need at least 7 or 8 indies. One or two of them will baulk when first crisis hits the government. Could have situation like in early 80s with 3 elections within two years.
