It is amazing how willing you are to excuse and gloss over profound personality flaws just because someone has or generates money.

You could argue it had run its course anyway. TGT and his Clarkson’s farms are successful but have never reached the levels Top Gear did.

To be honest I thought a lot of what he did in the late 90s such as Motorworld and Clarkson’s Car Years were better than a lot of what he did on Top Gear.

In any case what he did was a sackable offence, regardless of how much money he brought in.

Clarkson isn't PC. I get it. But knowing that he isn't PC I still tuned into his show and was entertained by it.

Nah it was making a fortune annually for the BBC.

They lost probably their most recognisable overseas product along with three of their most bankable stars.

It was a disaster for the corporation which is why they sacked their head of television not long after.
