missing people

What was that elderly man’s name?

I don’t know what’s the situation with the non Caucasian missing. But I do know that up to 40 odd years it wasn’t unusual at all for people to emigrate from here and just drift away and lose all contact with the family at home who could never find out what happened to them .. you’d even still see the odd case every now and then of Irish bachelors who worked all their lives over there but dying alone in London and authorities trying to trace relatives here. I personally know a Cork bachelor who went to London and ultimately died in a mental health and addiction treatment Centre in the UK just 3 years ago. He came from a respectable family here and his own Godson is a hospital consultant here in Ireland.
So I assume the Asian community that come here suffer too.

Looks like a nice friendly fella. From what i remember at the time his family thought he might have gone for a walk and fallen into a nearby stream/river or had an fall/accident, but it seems he was never found :(

I meet fella locally here walking the dog, chatty enough lad ,told me last year he had a brother who went missing 20 years ago .bumped into him again last week and he said he had located his brother online in the UK, successful businessman etc .
There was a family falling out back then but he just disappeared, yere man who found him says he looked online found him but has no desire to try meet up with him .
Families are complex setups sometimes ,.my advice was to drop him a message and say let's talk etc,I said if its not reciprocated well at least you've tried And won't go on wondering ,what if?

Remember the case up in Dublin/Kildare. The elderly lady with dementia that went missing from a nursing home. Vanished. Case all over the news at the time. She was found about 2 years later in a drain 100m from the entrance to the nursing home, by workers.

Message won’t work I’d say.. He needs to go meet his brother.. not door step him but help build a bridge to reconnect.. it all depends on the circumstances behind the estrangement too..
I know of a situation, a fella that was the same age as my nephew and in the same wider social scene. From a business family in a small Cork town, apparently in his late teens was discovered doing something out of the way with a young niece and he was never seen again. I mean never. Just vanished off the face of planet, with the story being that he ran away to England.. that’s about 30 years ago

Yeah you probably right but this lad says he has no interest anymore.
I was trying to persuade him as I know he diesent have a great social circle, is single and did say himself and her brother ( only has 1) were very close when young . Sad really ,often times it's pure stubbornness,.

The reality is that sometimes people just don't feel that connection with their family or feel a need to have a relationship with them. There is this belief that because you share DNA that you should and need to have a relationship but I don't buy into that.
I have a sibling who is estranged from the rest of us, haven't seen or spoken to them in around 20 years and I hold absolutely zero ill will towards them, in fact the opposite, I admire them for doing what they needed to do for themselves and their happiness.
Last I heard they had two happy kids, good job etc etc.. so good for them.

I know plenty people who are not bothered with members of their family. I myself don’t bother with some of my own and have no intention of reconnecting. Sometimes you just know it would be a complete waste of time. People can only go around in circles so many times.

Strange about that Garda Missing List, I wonder do they update it. There's a lad on there who's remains were found in Limerick. He was from West Limerick IIRC and they found remains in the Shannon near Bunratty many years ago but could not ID them. So they did a DNA test a year ago or so and discovered it was him, Gus Shanahan.

The media coverage and the tone of the coverage that this American fella in Kerry is getting is something else.

Its like they've just decided he's guilty and will write whatever they want to immune his character.

He's the new Ian Bailey, Ian Huntley, Richard Satchwell all rolled into one.

Absolutely disgusting how it happens. And of course social media have all jumped on too and decided that he should be locked up.

Being a weirdo doesn't make you a killer.

It strikes me as one of these ones that the Gardai have fuck all evidence in, so they're trying to make him hang himself and do the job for them.

But these two definitely committed the crime so no comparison to Ian Bailey and Michael Kelley. Bailey was tortured the most though.
Anyway, hopefully the truth comes out for the both of them.
