missing people

If an individual disconnects would it most usually be a good decision based on valid reasons?
In most cases no. Obviously individual cases differ but by and large it's based on perception and a lack of dealing with previous issues that are magnified by the current situation.
Poor communication is at the root of the majority of instances.

Official figures are that over 20 people a day or over 8000 people are reported missing each year in Ireland. A very high % are located within a few days.
Unfortunately, 2 people a week/ 100 people a year are never seen or found again.
There are also a small number of people who go missing but are not reported.

there seems to be a serious amount of people with arabic names in there and a good share with balkan names as well. that was just the first two most recent pages i looked at.

i skipped on to the tenth page and it seemed predominantly eastern european or russian men’s names there from mid 2000s.

it’s interesting how the non irish names profile changed over time. only at a quick glance. this wasn’t peer reviewed as per proc protocol.

i’m not ruling out that could actually be irish but if they were immigrants, and obviously somebody in ireland is missing them, hence their being on the database, but is there a chance that they might have been forcefully removed back to their native country?

family/gang feuds, arranged marriages, etc. or anything else

it’s a pity to see so many irish on that list. it could be anything from old people losing their bearings due to mental degradation, to young people with mental health issues to people who just don’t want to be found. the same could be true of the missing immigrants.

Very true. A lot of those on that list didn’t exactly go to school on Glasheen that’s for sure. It’s not straight forward to get on to that Garda missing list I think though. The Gardai establish a few things first I believe..
The volume of cases is astronomical. It explains why sometimes gardai might appear slow enough that they didnt arrest the next of kin the minute a person goes missing.. I clicked on your link and spotted a poor guy from Likerick missing. I didn’t recognise the case so went googling and discovered that wasn’t the first time and he’d been going missing for about 10 years.

I had a quick look out of interest myself - theres an elderly man from not too far away from where I live on there, he had dementia I think and I remember all of the Whatsapps etc at the time and just presumed they had found him :(

Theres a load of Asian people on there, they all sound like Chinese names but I'd have no idea. I wonder whats behind that?

What was that elderly man’s name?

I don’t know what’s the situation with the non Caucasian missing. But I do know that up to 40 odd years it wasn’t unusual at all for people to emigrate from here and just drift away and lose all contact with the family at home who could never find out what happened to them .. you’d even still see the odd case every now and then of Irish bachelors who worked all their lives over there but dying alone in London and authorities trying to trace relatives here. I personally know a Cork bachelor who went to London and ultimately died in a mental health and addiction treatment Centre in the UK just 3 years ago. He came from a respectable family here and his own Godson is a hospital consultant here in Ireland.
So I assume the Asian community that come here suffer too.
