Minor Footballers 2026

Was this the greatest AI Final come back from a Cork Football side.

I can't remember anything that comes close.

We were 9 pts down after 40 mins against one of the really strong counties at this level. We won by 3 pts.

Some of the scores and defending were awesome.

Keith Ricken is special. Not sure any other Cork Manager could instill this level of belief in 17yr olds.

It was just the tonic that we needed so badly

Well, it's either today, Barry, or Ricken's other All-Ireland!

Disappointing how few of that team became established seniors.

I was shattered after the hurling and didn’t want to read or see anything to do Cork GAA but thankfully I decided to watch the football and it was fantastic I noticed that I had a tear in my eye as I watched the celebrations after the match There is nothing more uplifting than watching young lads completely overjoyed .i hope they advance to u 20s together and continue to be great friends .All Ireland champions Cork sounds great .

Yeah - won Munster following year too but next few years were shambolic until this year when we gave Kerry a good rattle in Tralee despite missing couple of our best players. Hopefully build on AI minor win and decent u20 squad over next few years.
On the Dublin side too from 2020, Archer was marked down as a superb talent that would be starting with seniors within a year or so but he has gone off the radar. I know couple of Dublin lads that thought he'd be the next Diarmuid Connolly (without the issues). Not sure did he get injured, lose form or just decided not to give the commitment.

I think O'Mahony is the one we’ve really missed coming in and establishing himself. Maybe it might happen yet, but it would want to soon.

There were big hopes for Hartnett too, but he fell off the scene.

Saying that, I don’t know did anyone expect O’Callaghan to be quite as big a player as he’s become, so swings and roundabouts.

Not interested in the training is what I’ve heard.
He was very dedicated to practicing his free kicks at U20 level. He socked a few over from 50m or more during that championship. Didn't make the match day panel against Mayo nine days ago so on the fringes now.
