Midleton

Midleton always struck me as a town that was full of depressed people.

Not having a go, but it did.

The impression I get is that the people living there don't want to be living there at all like.

I remember when the main road went through Midleton - it was a very small town inferior to Youghal. The bypass changed all that imho.

With the great road down there it became a dormer town for Cork City, and the number of people living down there mushroomed. There were always a couple of boutiques down there and maybe it helped that it wasn't all squeezed between a hill and the sea so could spread out more evenly rather than be like one long string (of piss). Youghal is a very historic town but appears to be dying on its feet. Midleton appears to be thriving by comparison. Amazing the difference the bypasses have meant to both towns imho

Have never lived in Midleton but my parents moved not far away from there, years ago. I like it. Good pubs, a bit of nature, loads of supermarkets, a library, great infrastructure, fairly Chav free, any time I've been there, with the obvious exception of plastic fork man.

Midleton is thriving, Has so much going for it, Beaches within 20 minute drive, Greenway,

Midleton is on the railway, has a good road connection, and even has an outlet on to Cork Harbour for recreation with big GAA club and golf course. It's got a sizeable population that can sustain pubs, boutiques, and bigger shops too. I can certainly think of worse places in County Cork.
