Midleton

Play for snookers in pool do ya??

You certainly can. In Pool there's a time to pot, and a time not. In Snooker if you think you can pot you go for it - unless of course you need to make up points but at that stage you're on the back foot - not always the case in Pool

Pool is a class game. It's more tactical than snooker imho - albeit you need to be a much better shot in snooker
I played on the first decent table I ever found, with decent cue, etc. a few weeks back. 'twas amazing, pulling off shots I spent years trying for but could never mange with a shite setup. Far cry from The Vic. Great spot.

And seeing as this is the Midleton thread there was a lovely little article in The Echo yesterday about a "Vintage" (second hand) clothes shop in Midleton, near where Sage used to be although there's a new spot in there. Looks like she's running a great business, with great craic going on. Emer Harrington's the journalist's name. https://www.echolive.ie/wow/arid-41631283.html

There's also a vintage/second hand place in Fred Zeppelin's most Mondays and Tuesdays, more rocking/alt style stuff. Lovely woman runs it, LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse friendly. Opens at about 4pm and she finishes up around 9pm. Has Converse, Docs, leather jackets, denim jackets, dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans, the lot, at really fucking good prices. Although she did try to put me in a burgundy velvet pimp suit with floppy hat and all. 😇 No need to drink in there if you just want to go in and shop. I assume Fred's would have no issue with you calling in just to take a look.

Edit: Someone DM Great-Bit-O-Stuff with a link to this post. They might find the Fred's vintage market useful for sandals/docs. I'll have to rustle up some readies for charity and get my DMs sorted.

Sometimes in the Vic we'd rent the fancy tables upstairs, but we'd only play pool in the big tables.

You'd miss the Vic. Was in there every day after school. You'd go into the pool room and couldn't even see due to all the smoke in there. And you'd have decent games there as well. I remember when Street Fighter 2 came out. I was absolutely blown away.

Bit of trivia but the first place in cork too get Street Fighter 2: championship edition was actually the Tudor. Me and friend went down there but it was a scum hole.

4pm to 9pm Mondays and Tuesday, usually. Sometimes it'll be a Sunday and Tuesday if bands run into difficulties or anything and have to cancel a gig and the upstairs is free for her to setup.

Edit: Probably best to just link her instagram. https://www.instagram.com/reuseabalt/ She's the blonde girl in there. The barstaff will know her.
