Michael collins statue

interest is building on plans to have a statue to collins erected in cork city,
A group of people are raising funds and when finished will hand the statue over to cork city council.
Where would be the best location and would it be vandalised by those who dont like collins? id suggest near the monument on grand parade,

Need to balance it out by a Tom Barry one Especially now in 22 Collins is a divisive figure Started the civil war Which in turn 500 republicans died 77 officially executed ( 30 plus more shot by the roadside or disappeared) Over 10 k republicans locked up Many thousands had to emigrate as couldn’t attain employment or war pensions despite some having been in the GPO or fighting throughout the WOI To add insult to injury Free state borrowed the guns which blasted the 4 court’s etc 55 k free state troops employed to harass and hunt down republicans NB- the guns - (free state troops salaries paid)and their weapons were given to Collins and co by the British All was paid back to the British government after the civil war ended

🤔
De Valera went against a Dail vote which narrowly accepted the treaty with Britain. It was he, not Collins, who was responsible for the conflict.
