MERCURY REV | Cork gig

Excellent gig, and a great cover of Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime.
We all got masks and a band autographed postcard from Catskills, New York on the way in to the gig.

Sound was excellent.

The Henrys gig in '99 was better, but this was one of the best I have seen in Cyprus Avenue.

what was the support like? any good?

He was OK, one man with an acoustic, a distortion pedal and a voice. Might have worked for a different night but people weren't really interested in what he was doing.
Seemed like the songs he was playing were written for a band effort.

what a savage gig!! have never heard the sound so good in cyprus ave.Drummer was like animal - was sure his head was gonna be the size of a golf ball though when he took off d costume!

Everyones commenting on how good the sound was and I totally agree it was excellent........ i'm wondering how/why?

So am I....so am I....

brilliant gig. higher status of band equals more money to higher better sound engineers and they had about 3 people doing their sound as far as i could see. they are surely the biggest (as regards record sales) band to play cyprus are they?

brilliant gig once again!

Yip there was 3 engineers on , but you have to remember that they were there since 11 in the morning setting up and some of the gear they had was totally out of this world ..was very impressed with the vocal treatment which was done by the FOH engineer using a macbook pro each song had it's own treatment which is a great way to work.
Overall a very impressive Danish crew who worked their asses to accommodate a band of that calibre.

And I thought I was being original! Dang.
Bummed that I missed it, bizarrely I ended up doing sound for their old keyboard player Adam Snyder in Galway instead...
