MERCURY REV | Cork gig

support 8.20pm

The guys have apparently all bought costumes for tonight seeing as its Hallowe'en, so if anyone feels like doing the same you're more than welcome

and the guys onstage?

I remember last time in the Savoy they came out drinking cans into the crowd after the gig, so maybe they are planning a bit of trick or treating later tonight.

they came out into the woods for the disco tent at end of the road, yer man jonathan is a bit of a mover, reminded me of me in my prime;
grasshopper, just stood at the edges, reminded me of me in my youth...

A friend saw them at Electric Avenue in Waterford last nite and said they were outstanding, really up for it.

Have seen them twice before, but their Sir Henrys gig in January 1999 is still in my top ten gigs I have ever been too.

Should be a good one tonight.

As good a gig as you're ever likely to see in Cyprus Avenue IMO...the drummer was unreal, and not just because of the costume...

Yeah it was very impressive and very powerful. The drummer was absolutely amazing. The band in general were tight and clearly enjoyed it. The frontman gave it everything a frontman should. A good 9/10 in my book. Will be a good while before I see as good a gig as this again I would guess.

Possibly gig of the year for me. Great to see a band enjoy themselves as much. Bunch of maniacs. The drummer was like animal from Sesame street. What a lunatic. They all looked off their face to me and if they were then they are a great advertisement for getting fucked up. Great band with a great presence.

one of the best live performances ive seen in a long long time i must say.................as mentioned already the drummer stole the show! Great stuff altogether

What a gig. As good a gig as I've seen in Cork for years. Great performance , sound atmosphere etc... and a talking heads cover for good measure.
