Mercury Music Prize Nominations 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry if this has been posted (as it no doubt has) but the nominations are:

Bloc Party – 'Silent Alarm'
Hard-Fi –'Stars Of CCTV'
Kaiser Chiefs – 'Employment'
MIA – 'Arular'
The Magic Numbers – 'The Magic Numbers'
Coldplay – 'X&Y'
The Go! Team – 'Thunder, Lightning Strike'
Antony And The Johnsons – 'I Am A Bird Now'
KT Tunstall – 'Eye To The Telescope'
Maximo Park – 'A Certain Trigger'
Seth Lakeman – 'Kitty Jay'
Polar Bear – 'Held On The Tips Of Fingers'

Doesn't seem to be quite as good a list as it once used to be, but some decent ones on there nonetheless. Maximo Park would get my shoud, but of course, tipping the winner of the Mercuries is fallacy... as is tipping the winner for any kind of sustained success. Thoughts?

this is not a list of big guns, is it?

Coldplay – 'X&Y' are the big name so will not win the big name never wins
Kaiser Chiefs – 'Employment' will not win as well

but you got to ask your self who wants to win this for nine out of ten artist or band its the kiss of death

Can't understand how Coldplay got in but from what i've heard on the list its defo MIA, one of the most innovative and fresh albums of the year!

The curse of the Mercury Prize

Ahra give it to the Kaisers so, can't see them disappearing off the face of the earth at this stage.

Nah....give it to The Go! Team.

Great great album and they were a genuinely nice bunch when they played here.
Twas funny....straight after the gig, Ninja went back to the tour bus to cram for her college exams!
