Luis Suarez

Came on in the the 70th minute today and scored two cracking goals. Still a fantastic talent.

He's clearly not performing at the same levels as his late LFC / early Barca peak.

But he's still pretty handy.

And much better than I thought he'd be at this age. I thought he'd struggle with his physique by 33 and go off a cliff performance-wise when he lost his speed over short bursts.

Really?

Always struck me as an intelligent player with a sublime first touch and an ability to use his skills to hold back Fr. Time. (I don’t mean beat time before anyone starts, no one can. just he’d have a slower decline than most).

I'd have to agree with Phil. I thought he'd get fairly porky, to be honest.

I see what you mean.

My thinking was such a big part of his game was being that split second sharper than his marker. Take that away and there's a risk he'd have to transition to a Sheringham-style role early on.

Plus he isn't the most fluid mover. Can look a little cumbersome relative to a smoother mover like say Martial, Mbapppe etc.

That sums up what I saw him becoming better than I did.

He’s one of the players of his generation. An absolute genius imo.
