Live aid 40 years on

BBC showed it last night, great viewing, Imo
Freddie was the star of the show
I only read recently that Bob Geldof didn't want Queen to perform. Saying they had reached their pinnacle and there was other bands deserved a chance etc.

In the end he gave the green light. Would have been a shame Freddie blew it out of the park.

That's based off an old article in Mojo magazine.

It doesn't make a whole pile of sense in the context of Dad Rockers Status Quo opening the show.

Freddie strutting around the stage in the white vest, what a showman he was

🙂
Seems like yesterday tbh.
Sade, pure class, was the only woman to perform at Wembley but various women, Madonna included, took part in Philadelphia.

I was in Clancy's that night and the customers organised a collection. Dan O Sullivan matched it and a hefty amount was collected for the cause.
