Lindsay Clancy

God that's mad isn't it? People holding daft opinions. And on the internet of all places.

I'd be very surprised if anything other than lunatics, of whatever gender, are applauding the killer of three children. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to understand the broader context but most of the people I meet in daily life (even the women, imagine) are capable of being as appalled by the actions of the woman in this trial as by men who commit these acts yet also understanding that sometimes people can be catastrophically, destructively mentally ill.
I think you're missing a couple of things here Tony.

First, there are plenty of examples of people who support and applaud killers, who are (imo) not lunatics. I don't think all the Serbs who supported Karadzic were clinically insane. Likewise the people who shook the hand and patted the back of that rapist in Listowel.

Second, what's unusual (though not unique) about this case are the people who are publicly and openly (i.e., not anonymous randos online) supporting (and, based on video footage, applauding) her.

I'm willing to put my neck on the line here and say that anybody genuinely applauding the killer of three children, be it Lindsay Clancy, the Bosnian Serbs, or ever closer to home the cunts that bombed Warrington are fucking lunatics.

Admittedly it's a small sample size but the majority of people I meet would be appalled by it. I'd pass more heed on that than a lunatic, a fanatic or someone farming for online or in print engagement.

It's a good point you make there though about the public and open support. From Trump down it seems to me like an awful lot of the problems with the world today are linked to the interaction between social media and people who got either far too much or far too little attention as children.

I think that to say they are supporting her is not accurate ( for the most part anyway). No one thinks that's its wonderful that she strangled her three children.

It is more that some people see her as also being a victim in this case. That she is a sick woman who needs help, rather than an evil woman who needs punishment.

There are, of course, loons that think that she's innocent amd that she was framed, but they are fairly rare.

All of them?
What?
I posted a Tik Tok where women were applauding Clancy and thats what caused KYS to reply to it and me to him and so on. Then you replied to one of my comments about the Tik Tok which had the women literally applauding her.

So I dont get the question in the context of my posts and replies to it unless you're trying to be a dick.
I cant speak for all women just the actually droves of women lining the roads in that specific part of the USA applauding the women. It appears she has considerable support amongst, wait for it, women in the U.S.

Oh the angry fellow is here, wonderful.

The problem here is people are in a massive hurry to say that someone saying "I wonder if more could be done to support mental health of mothers" is supporting, endorsing or applauding the killer. Offline, most people are capable of holding two different thoughts in their head at the same time. At least most of the people I meet.

And I'm not saying you speak for all women, you'd have to speak to a woman first.

I would have to actually know what point you were trying to make above and beyond rage and name-calling to know whether or not you were wrong.

Here's the thing Mattie - I haven't seen anyone say that for the most part people expressing sympathy for her are supporting her in the sense of thinking what she did was good. A lot of people are making sensible points about prescription drugs, depression and so on. And afaics there is room for reasonable doubt about her mental state.

My point is that *some* people - a very small minority, tbf - are going well beyond this, e.g., people who stand applauding a self-confessed child killer as she is driven by. Even if you think she's a victim too, that just seems an incredible thing to do in the circumstances.

I absolutely agree that the vast majority people regard what happened with horror. But I still disagree that only lunatics could applaud her, or more generally applaud terrible acts. But anyhow, I've said my piece on that.
