Laochra Gael on TG4

It shows where we are at in Cork when we no longer feature regularly on Laochra Gael
Seem to be going for fellas with a bit of a back story as well, like Noelie last year (he'd deserve one anyway, pure legend).
Dead right. You need a story attached that is non sport related to make the cut. Though Corkery and Deane both would have something else to share. That said it is a fantastic programme. The narration is brilliant.

Great show but as people said about Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch it's not really about football but more about off the field stuff. The best sports books I've read is probably Paul Mc Grath's autobiography followed by books on boxers. Your normal run of the mill sports star usually lead very dull lives.

i read Paul McGraths book in one day, best autobiography ever.

Tony Scullion one was excellent.
Interesting to get the prospective of someone who grow up in poverty out in the back of beyonds.
No sectarianism in his neighbourhood - poor farmers are reliant on each other's help and you don't care about the religion of the person helping you.
Tony manages to have a pop at Niall Cahalane 30 years later.

Would love to see one on Stephen O’Brien (of Cork and Nemo or course) ,a truly underrated player I think
What a man. I remember him as an 18 year-old v. Kerry in 1988, my first Munster Final. He drove Cork to victory in the rain in the Munster semi-final down the Páirc in 1994. I love how he ended up playing full forward for Cork towards the end of his career. I think we would have won the All-Ireland in 1999 if Stephen O'Brien was there. A true warrior, loved him as a player.
