It's a long way out, but the OCI are getting the ball rolling anyway. Here's the latest scholarship announcements. Lots of LA-bound athletes are of course, already on different college or own-sport-funded gigs.
Yep, this is extra. So, a lot of the "A" listers are already fundedI'd this on top of the govt carding?
Looks like it's a reward for making a final
Coscoran is 29, he'll be 32 by the Games.
He's on the 25k grant AFAIK
Good for him but you'd be better off giving lots more smaller grants to athletes who aren't sponsored yet.
Griggs would be a better bet than coscoran but he hasn't made a senior champs yet.
Or Anika Thompson or Oisin Joyce or Loads of others.
McPhillips is on an Ad Astra at UCDAgree with the above comments - funding was always a bit odd for athletics, it was only when you peaked at a championship that you got the reward, age never really a consideration. Griggs is a super talent, 13.05 and in hospital/out of action for the early part of the year, surely a 12.45 runner with the proper structure and support. No disrespect to Coscoran because he has put in a few solid years and too deserves support, but if I’m taking a punt on someone from Ireland on the men’s distance side (not considering McPhillips who is surprisingly omitted above) then Griggs would be top of the list for me too.
Still training with Lester's group in London AFAIK. Be interesting to see if she stays the course for 2026Is sharlene maudsley after moving to dubai?
No I’d say just on an ole holiday. Is sharlene maudsley after moving to dubai?
Yep - Paris was their chance. If we're being honest, we know the answer above. Sophie B is way off the top times and unless Sharlene makes a decent little improvement, we won't be seeing much of her outside relays.
