Ticket Sales opened yesterday.

They are eye wateringly expensive.

Athletics Tickets for evening sessions were about $744 for Category E seats going up to $2400 for primo finish line Cat A.

Those prices are ticket only no hospitality or whatever.

I reckon I'll watch this one on telly.

LA28 organizers promised that those living near venues would have access to Olympic tickets for as little as $28 apiece. Folks who tried to buy learned otherwise.

Yeah, my "window" opens on April 16th. I've been to London 2012 and Paris 2024 - to a good few events at each games. There has always been lower price rtickets available nearer the time. Even during the games you can pick them up. "Lower price" is relative obviously - you're still going to pay somewhere between €500 and €1,000 for a finals night at the track.

I'd be worried about free market capitalism for this one though. I suspect AirBNB will get out of hand and the lack of public transport will be a ball ache.

I didn't think anything would top London for organisation but Paris did.

Yeah, you wouldn't be sure the yanks won't just flog all tickets off to the highest bidder. Still, the Olympics is always a big big deal in the U.S. - I'm keeping up hope that some of the spirit will prevail.

As opposed to the 25 euro (approx. It was actually in pesetas) that I paid to attend the Barcelona Olympics evening session. 1992, I know it ain't the same, but jeez........
