Take it to the IRA threads lads.
We've had Kenough.
We've had Kenough.
Ken agrees with you.I’m sorry, it looks like American culture wars writ small and infused into Irish society. I can only say it has wreaked American discourse and politics. The end result was maga and no one but the very worst win in that scenario.
It is one of the milestone political events in American political history. It seemed innocuous enough but it was the beginning of end of balanced political discourse which devolved into Facebook politics. We are living in Reagan’s world.I only heard of this recently, it was repealed in 1987, leading to a more polarised and biased news media.
The Fairness Doctrine was a 1949 Federal Communications Commission policy in the United States. It required radio and television broadcasters to cover important public issues and present opposing viewpoints. The FCC repealed the rule in 1987, sparking a long-running debate over free speech, media bias, and political polarization.
Origins and Core Rules
Started by the FCC in 1949 based on the public interest standard.
Required stations to air discussions on controversial public topics.
Mandated that contrasting views receive fair airtime.
Did not demand equal split-second timing, but overall balance.
Upheld by the Supreme Court in the 1969 case Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. FCC due to scarce broadcast frequencies.
Repeal and Arguments
The FCC ended enforcement in 1987, arguing it limited free speech and stopped stations from covering touchy subjects.
Supporters say the rule prevented extreme partisan echo chambers.
Critics say government oversight acted as a form of censorship.
That Norma Foley is trying to start a MIGA movement by stirring the pot on the traditional family? That’s part of the goal in my opinion.
I'm not playing down Jean McConville's killing anymore than that of Mrs Lyndsay or of her driver - but you at last seem to now concede their killing was twice as bad as Jean McConville's.
Now that we've established that, are you also willing to accept that what happened in the aftermath of McConville's killing was far less barbaric than what happened in the aftermath of the killing of Mrs Lyndsay and her driver?
Or do you think we should just ignore those historical facts?
BTW, the disappearance of Jean McConville was closer in time to the disappearance of Mrs Lyndsay and her driver than it is to the present day. But typically some only want to ever discuss one - again just for the political pointscoring rather than the warts and all discussion of the history of this island.
This is what you wrote
"McConville's body was buried where she was shot and thankfully subsequently found, those who'd killed her/had her killed providing information to try have the body found."
Aren't they great lads in providing the information. Jean McConville was the mother of 10 children, and you're still covering for these murderous 'Ra scum. Do you not agree that they are murderous scum ?
You also said
"but you at last seem to now concede their killing was twice as bad as Jean McConville's."
whereas I said
"All 3 were equally bad." Busteed was a psychopath, so too is Adams, McGuinness and Ellis knowingly content with blowing up children.
You seem to have reading difficulties ?
You're always making excuses for scum like Adams who ordered her murder. That's a reflection on you.

Be that as it may, wot the fock has any of that got to do with Ken O'Flynn?
