Katie Taylor

Over 65% of Irish adults watched the fight, either in person, on RTE TV or RTE Player.
You'd have to go back to Kim Jong Il's funeral to find such a high %.

It was immense watching even on TV but mad thing is the hype is still there few days later such was the magnitude of the event…Three sporting events stick out for me for pure emotion, Italia 90, Mayo winning Sam recently and now this…We will get to a World Cup again, Mayo will win Sam again , Cork will win Liam again someday but what this lady did over her career will never ever be repeated…

I dunno, Katie's great but I feel Flora Pili knew her role. She was never going to spoil the party.

I wonder was there some agreement pre fight that pili would be looked after but this was Katie's big night

I'd say it was just good matchmaking.

Pili was legitimate enough to make it a contest and limited enough to ensure the result everyone and I mean everyone wanted.

Remember Lennox Lewis and Hassim Rahman, the big push back onto free to air telly on the Beeb? it set the sport back about 10 years. Thunder in Africa..LOL
