Very few athlete's on the planet male or female could sell 80,000 tickets for an event.

Last night was obviously the pinnacle but when you add in head lining MSG and all the Olympic success along with being a trailblazer it’s hard to pick another Irish athlete that tops all of that.

It's hard to ever see a sporting event like that again in Ireland. Definitely not for a solo sportsperson.

Yeah Croke Park will be full every year with All Ireland finals, the Aviva will be full any time the All Blacks or South Africa are here, but like what other Irish sports person would garner the celebrations we saw last night?

I do think the only reason we have these conversations is because it is women's sport. If she was a male boxer we wouldn't think twice about talking about Ireland's best ever sportsperson. But we're still getting used to women's sports actually being pretty big now, something she is largely responsible for.

She's in the top 3 greatest ever female boxers, so you're right any Irish man who did that in the male sport would have achieved something greater than what the likes of McIlroy, Keane and Sean Kelly have done. But comparing womens boxing to male boxing or golf, soccer or athletics is utterly pointless.

There is no comparison in terms of competitiveness and what it takes to make it to the top. It doesn't make her any less brilliant, but any conversation about greatest Irish sports person is redundant because her sport bears no comparison to mainstream male sports.
