Kabin Kids go pure Kerazzzzzyyyyyyyyy

I know ye are probably sick shite of hearing from me here but...

Absolutely not. Good news is always welcome, and good news about Cork kids even more so!

So, we were back at the Everyman last night. CIFF Awards were presented before last night's screening of Song Sung Blue and the Kabin folks picked up the award for Best New Irish Feature for their excellent documentary Gealtra.
An Taoiseach Micheál Martin did the honours and the kind words from director Brendan Canty were the icing on the cake for us parents . The 6 members of the crew who featured in the documentary were all buzzing last night. Another piece of crystal to be proudly displayed in those magic containers outside Terence McSweeney school. Good times!

Special night tonight at MTU School of music on Union Quay as the Kabin studio reprised their Sound Of The Northside gig to the accompaniment of the Irish National Opera Orchestra . Even a quick evacuation for a fire alarm couldn’t dampen the mood . Brought my parents who are both touching 80 along to watch their grandkids perform live. Special night .

We went to see them at the Counting house stage last weekend and they were great.

The very excellent movie ‘Christy’ , which features several alumni from the Kabin , was among the success stories at tonight’s IFTA awards . Amongst the awards were for Best Director the supremely talented Brendan Canty and the movie itself won best film . Lovely shout-out to the community by Brendan in his acceptance speech . Well done all
