Junior A Hurling Championship 2024

Killeagh win the East Cork championship by 2 pts. First win since 1995 and first win by their 2cd team.
Ben and Barry Walsh doing wreck by all accounts.
Would hope the county board revisit this ridiculous rule around not allowing minors play senior or intermediate hurling.
The smaller clubs are the only ones suffering over it. Can't see how it benefits the players in any way shape or form

Killeagh will take stopping with these guys in their forward line. I presume they're back to Harty Hurling again now on Wednesday the Walsh's. Is Meade in Midleton CBS also?

The smaller clubs (junior A down) were caught in no man's land. They vote for it and they get access to their 18 year olds to help them field teams but they also potentially significantly strengthen the opposition (Big clubs 2nd or 3rd teams)

They vote against it and potentially could be facing very tight numbers.

Can't understand why it can't go back to the old rule. If you're good enough you're old enough. Realistically how many 17 year olds were playing senior and intermediate hurling every year. Only a handful I'd wager.

I'd agree for 18 year olds certainly. You just have to take a firm approach with fixtures.

No calling off a junior game because the opposition have players in a minor final later that week and vice versa.

The master fixture list should sort that.

Great win for Killeagh but the Carrig manager wouldn't be renowned as a tactical genius!

1/4 finals on next weekend, one of Killeagh/ Whitechurch or Killavullen/Dromtarriffe have a great chance of making a county final. Carrignabhear made a county semifinal last year and had Glanworth on the rack in first half so will be very disappointed to lose out today( Vtb who is the Carrig manager? Same as last year ya?
Well done Killeagh, from reports the two Walsh's will be some addition to their senior team.
